Know
Your Region: Summary
The
Southwest Regional Economic Performance Framework has been developed
as an instrument for better understanding how the Southwest
region’s economy is performing now and into the future.
Regional
data intelligence is necessary to:
• improve understanding of life in the Southwest,
• enable informed decisions through trusted, relevant
and independent statistics and analysis;
• provide policy and decision makers a blueprint of
our region’s labour market, economy, industries etc.
to guide future decisions and serve as a benchmark against
which future changes can be measured;
• enable the public, communities, academia and other
bodies to understand statistics about the Southwest region
and utilize it for future planning and development.
The
demand for statistical indicators at sub-provincial levels is
becoming more significant to policy makers, those engaged in
economic forecasting and as well large investors choosing locations
for optimum returns. The ability to assess differences in economic
performance and/or concentrations of economic activities will
be essential to determining our region's and provinces level
of competitiveness in the global economy.
There is no question that improved knowledge will be critical
for future growth and wealth creation. The Southwest Regional
Economic Performance Framework will serve to engage this understanding
and the Southwest region's contribution to the performance of
the province of Saskatchewan and the nation.
