Southwest Regional Tourism Map Project

Action Southwest in partnership with tourism leaders, tourism industry associations, and federal, provincial and municipal government representatives have implemented a project to begin growing the tourism industry in southwest Saskatchewan. The project encompassed the creation of a regional tourism map that would connect the visitor to southwest communities and provide a promotional tool for the region’s 100 plus key tourism destinations and for the region as a whole.

The Action Southwest regional map project has offered, for the first time, a tool for marketing and creating linkages among all communities in the region, an opportunity to market all of our key tourism destinations, an opportunity to allow the retention of local tourism dollars to each community, an opportunity to build more partnerships through packaging promotions…..an opportunity to be proud of all the southwest has to offer!

In September 2006 the Map Committee passed the project on to private enterprise to continue with its development.  Mooseworld Inc. will now be developing the Great Southwest Tourism Map under the guidance of the Map Committee.

In 2006 the Great Southwest Map Team was recognized for their outstanding achievement and contribution to the growth of the tourism industry in Saskatchewan by becoming a finalist in Saskatchewan Tourism Awards of Excellence.

Status:   The 2007 edition was distributed in June and 2008 is already in the planning stages.
