Branding
the Region
Current businesses
and residents need to understand and be reminded of the positive
qualities of the region and why businesses and residents choose
to live and invest here. A regional brand will clarify who we
are as the southwest region, which will instill pride, a positive
attitude, increased investment, regional collaboration and growth.
A regional brand will create “clarity with attitude”
A brand statement will help tell a powerful story about the
unique diversity and confidence that is the southwest. This
initiative seeks to establish a brand that is easily adaptable
and flexible so as not to create confusion amongst other stakeholders
and or partners.
A committee was formed
in December 2006 and embarked on an awareness campaign across
the southwest to talk about what branding is, what the benefits
are to a regional identity and to receive commitment from the
region to move forward on the actual development of a brand.
A funding proposal was drafted and secured support of $14,550
from 24 funding partners.
Current Status:
The Branding Team met, once again, in October to go over the
final Branding Report and decide whether to move the project
into a second phase. It was unanimously agreed, that the
feedback that was received showed that there were definite benefits
to the development of a regional branding project. Such
an initiative would serve to collaboratively promote the numerous
assets and competitive advantages of the southwest region.

feedback that was received from the region in phase I click
