Swift Current Regional Airport Project

Revitalization of the Swift Current Airport into a regional airport. The expansion of air service in the region will provide a number of opportunities for business and economic development. The expansion will require an estimated $5 million and approximately 2 years to complete. It will include extending the runway to accommodate bigger planes and revitalization of the airport facilities to include a Customs area.

An Impact study was conducted and provided a very positive picture for the development of a regional airport.  The committee continues to seek a number of revenue opportunities, new signage and sourcing historic pieces for display in the new faciltiy.

Status:

The province has invested $500,000 into a new transportation program that will assist in the development of regional airports. The airport committee drafted a proposal and secured $40,000 under the Community Airport Partnership Program for ashphalt upgrades and lighting. The City of Swift Current will match this funding.
